FHDC – foundation half double crochet
ch - chain
sp - space
sc - single crochet
cs / CS - Cluster Stitch
sl st - slip stitch
hdc - half double crochet stitch
Note when reading pattern: after the first base row is looped together, you will continue in the same direction throughout. Do not turn your work.
Cluster Stitch
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 3 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 2 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp; wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 4 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 3 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp; wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 5 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 4 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook and pull through ALL 4 loops to create the “cluster” stitch
Beg Row CS: (this will ONLY be used at beginning of Odd Rows to begin new row)
Ch 2 (acts as beginning of first CS)
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 3 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 2 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp; wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 4 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 3 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook and pull through ALL 3 loops to complete CS
End Row CS: (this will ONLY be used at end of Even Rows to join together) After you CH:
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 3 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 2 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp; wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 4 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops on hook. There will be 3 loops left hook.
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into top of ch 3 at beginning of the row. There will be 5 loops left hook
Wrap yarn over hook and pull through ALL 5 loops to complete CS & join the row
Slip Stitch into top of ch 3 to complete the row
BASE: FHDC x 104, sl st together ***Be VERY careful not to twist the chain when you connect. This will affect the overall look of the finished scarf***

Alternatively if you do not know fhdc:
- ch 104, Sl ST chain then slip stitch together to create large circle. DO NOT TWIST! - ch 2, hdc all the way around and slip stitch to top of ch 2
ROW 1: Beg Row CS, CH1, skip one ch sp then: *CS, CH 1, skip ch sp*
Repeat * to * all way around; sl st into top of Ch 2 from Beg Row CS to join together
ROW 2: Ch 3, skip ch sp, in second ch sp from hook: *CS, CH1, skip ch sp*
Repeat * to * all way around to end finishing with End Row CS
ROWS 3 - 7: CS in each ch sp all way around following Odd & Even Row details
ROW 8: ch 2, hdc all way around, sl st into top of Ch 2
Fasten off and use large needle to weave in ends.
